Tourniquets are designed to stem catastrophic and life threatening bleeding in a limb when direct pressure is not enough. The C-A-T Tourniquet has an adjustable Velcro strap making it useful for any limb. A tourniquet should be placed 2/3 inches above the bleed pulling the band tightly around the limb. The windlass system is then used to twist the rod until the bleeding has stopped and then this is to be secured inside the clip. The C-A-T Tourniquet can be applied using two or one hand due to the simple application method.
